Why We Ride:
Jean Heuschen loved riding his bike and was a proponent of cycling for the health benefits he enjoyed. He was a leader in the cycling community with his NPC Board service. Jean was larger than life—on the bike, with friends, as an advocate for cycling, and cycling safety. Completing massive rides became a tradition for him and friends. Jean’s goal was to complete 200 miles the year he was taken from us and now it’s Naples Velo’s honor to ride those miles in his memory.

CONGRATS TO ALL 2022
JEAN HEUSCHEN
MEMORIAL RIDERS

The 2nd Annual Jean Heuschen Memorial Ride on February 19th was a great success. Over 140 cyclists participated throughout the day, raising close to $10,000 for the Jean Heuschen Cycling Safety Awareness Fund.

We had roughly 36 cyclists complete all 4 Stages of 200 Mile Ride and the 100 Mile Ride had over 40 cyclists. Many more riders completed individual stages, the Gordon Drive 30 Mile Ride, or the Family 20 Mile Ride.

At the Happy Hour following the long day, the 200 Mile finishers were presented commemorative medals and a Safetti Jean Heuschen Memorial Ride jersey for their accomplishment. We were honored to have the Heuschen family and friends ride and celebrate with all the riders.

Naples Velo would like to thank the Heuschen family, donors, cyclists, and volunteers who helped make this event a success. All the participants should be applauded for the safe, fun event benefiting cycling safety. Look for an announcement later this year about the 3rd Annual Jean Heuschen Memorial Ride in February 2023.
